Employer Partners

Overview of Program

At CLTCC, transportation includes four programs – Certified Driver’s License, automotive technology, collision repair and outdoor power equipment. Partnering with CLTCC in transportation is essential because these are your potential employees.

CDL and collision repair are taught at the Alexandria Main Campus. Outdoor power equipment and automotive technology are taught at the Lamar Salter Campus in Leesville. There is an exit point that could lead to a job at the completion of each semester in these programs. The first semester students get a TCA, or technical competency in area, and in two semesters students earn a technical certificate, which shows students are proficient and ready to work. If you’re looking for employees with more education, which is critical with the evolving technology in transportation, CLTCC also offers technical diplomas in outdoor power equipment, automotive technology and collision repair. Automotive technology advances to an associate’s degree.

Hands-On Training Facility

You get to help provide the hands-on training at your facility if you choose to participate in a cooperative program, in which students spend part of their day honing skills on the job and the rest of their time learning more in the classroom. Employers report back to instructors about students’ progress and can help develop students into the skilled workers employers need now. The classrooms are pretty hands-on, too. By utilizing state-of-the-art virtual reality technology students learn to paint cars and drive 18-wheelers in a safe environment that’s better for the students and the world around them.

Quality of Graduation

After each semester in CLTCC’s transportation programs, students can go to work. In the first semester they earn a TCA, or technical competency in area, and in two they earn a technical certificate that shows they are proficient in the field. CLTCC also offers technical diplomas in outdoor power equipment, automotive technology and collision repair. Automotive technology advances to an associate’s degree.

Internship Opportunity

You also can get students early on by offering internships. The more on-the-job training students receive the better for them and for you as the employer. If they get the training now as students, there will be almost no learning curve when they come to you as employees after graduation. You’ll know exactly how they fit into your business, and they’ll play an important role. Your investment in them at the beginning will pay off for you in the long run.
